IOM Response to Haiti Earthquake

The humanitarian crisis in Haiti is notably acute given the country’s challenges with profound poverty preceding the earthquake. Since 12 January 2010, the displacement crisis has posed unique challenges. As the largest  urbandisplacement crisis caused by a natural disaster, the scale of the humanitarian emergency nearly outdid the response capacity. However, thanks to the help of our funding partners, the estimated 1.5 million displaced people in July 2010 were provided with minimal access to critical WASH, Shelter, and Health services.
